ADOPTION AND THE ENTIRE MINISTRY

E-22 Now, after this child become of age… Now, he’s still a child. But if the child was reckless, and never paid any attention, and wasn’t so interested in the Father’s work, that child never become adopted to that family. But if he was a correct child, a good child, and loved the work of his father, and was interested, and tried to do all he could to progress his father’s work, then the tutor brought that word to the father, and there was what’s called the placing of the son or as Paul gives it in—over in Galatians, “the adoption.” That we was predestinated into the adoption of children by Jesus Christ, the adoption.

Now, the same son that was born into a family could be adopted into the same family, or placed in the same family, or give a position in the family that he was borned into. And I do believe that that is the work of the Holy Spirit today among the church, is trying to place in the church positionally apostles, teachers, prophets, and so forth, as… And we’ve seen many false alarms and so forth moving amongst the people, which only indicated that the real genuine adoption was at hand. I believe it. God has to place into the church. That’s the business of God, not of man.

E-23 Now, when this boy became of age, and when he was ready then for his adoption, and he had proved by—the tutor had told the Father that this boy was eligible for adoption, he was taken out into a public place, and there he was robed with a—a robe (a honor robe, perhaps purple, or some color of royalty), and was set up, and the whole city, all the people around about, seen the Father adopt his own son into the family. And then when he was adopted into the family, already a son, already a child, already a heir of grace, but placed in the family… You get it. Now, when he was placed in the family and given his position, then that boy’s name on a check was just as good as his father’s name on the check.

Now, I believe that that is the time that the church has arrived at today, that the next great move in the church is for God, after we’ve seen the false alarms… But now, God will place in His church correctly, apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, not man-made seminary boughten, but God will place into the church. Not theology run-overs and overnights, but God will place in the church, as God has chosen, as the Holy Ghost has tutored this church and raised it up. And in there God will adopt into His—into the position His sons. They’re already His sons, but whether they are worthy of the position that He has for them.

But our denominations has smothered over the Word of God, in saying, “It’s for some other day. Oh, that’ll… Divine healing, will be in the millennium.” Or, “Divine healing was back there. It isn’t pertaining to today.”

108 How can He be the same yesterday, today, and forever, and still Divine healing gone? How can the power, how can… The Bible set in order, “First apostles, prophets teachers, evangelists, pastors, for a vindication that the Gospel still lives.” And God sends them right among us, and we turn our back on it. God doesn’t fail, it’s the people’s failed.

“Where is the miracles then among us? Where are they at?” God was talking to this man, getting him ready to go out.

Move the clouds out, the sun’s always shining. That’s right. When doubts are gone, and things are made right, miracles will be there just as sure as the sun’s there.

The sun, by the command of God, shines every day. It’s there because God commanded it there. And as long as there is day and night, the sun will hang there. Sure. Not all the time you see it, because clouds has it covered up; fog, clouds, low or high, covers it up. But it’s always there. See?

112 And the only thing you want to do to see miracles today, if you want to see the miracle of God, just move all your doubt away. Move all your creeds away, move all your denominationals away, and there the Son’s automatically shining. It’s a Commandment of God, for It said, “He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” So, as long as He’s to be there forever, He’s there. No question about it, He’s there. Where is the miracles? What’s hindering the miracles? 115 Isn’t it a strange thing, a miracle, that in the face of all of it, Brother Way, in the face of all the denominations, in the face of all the critics, the Bible still remains the same? How did It ever weather the storm? God is determined to judge every man by the Bible. And the Bible is the Word, and the Word is Christ. Everyone, every man will be judged by That.

The word “apostle” means “one that’s sent.” The word “missionary” means “one that’s sent,” the same word. Apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, evangelists, these offices God sets in the Church. They’re all in operation, or should be. We cannot bypass one and say there’s teachers without saying evangelists. We cannot say there’s evangelists without saying there is apostles. We cannot say there’s apostles without admitting there’s prophets. All of them are for the perfecting of the Body of Christ.

The Lord gives me visions. Those things begin when I was a little baby. I do not believe that man can be called of man and be a successful minister. I believe gifts and callings are without repentance, that God by His foreknowledge foreordained His ministers into the Gospel, and the gifts into the Church.

God told Jeremiah, I believe it was, that said, “Before you was even formed in your mother’s womb, I knew you, and sanctified you, and ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Seven hundred and twelve years before John the Baptist was born, God told Isaiah that he was the voice of one crying in the wilderness. He couldn’t help from being John. And all the way from the garden of Eden, and yes, before the foundation of the world, Jesus Christ was ordained the Son of God. So we are what we are by the grace of God.

I—MINISTERIAL GIFTS

I-1—THE NEW BIRTH = A GIFT

And if old unbelief, and selfishness, and denominations are—are absolutely binding us, and separating us, and separating brotherhood, and the fellowship of Christ, let’s get rid of the thing and get right with God, and get out into the harnessing and serve the Lord.

Now, in the Book it’s taught over there that God has placed in the Church five ministering gifts. First is apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, and pastors; those gifts God places in the Church sovereignly. Now, those gifts God places in the Church.

And those are gifts that you’re to pray for, to pray for the gift of speaking with tongues, or the gift of interpretation of tongues, or these other gifts that goes into the church. Pray for the gifts of healing, and pray for the gifts of miracles, and so forth. That’s the ones that you pray for, and the Spirit comes on and works in each local assembly to—in the perfecting of the Church.

Now, many times we’ve misjudged that, went over the mark and so forth; and that’s what’s caused it. But we expected… I… If it wasn’t that way, I—I’d think there was something wrong with the program, ’cause it’s Satan trying to upset it. You see?

An apostle today, a modern apostle is nothing in the world but a missionary. Now, if you’ll tell me what the word missionary means, then tell me what apostle means. Apostle means “one sent,” and a missionary means “one sent.” It’s the same thing.

Apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, and evangelists, those five ministering gifts is set in the church.

Does the Bible say, that in the church there’s first apostles, prophets, evangelists, teachers, pastors? How many knows there’s five ministering gifts? Certainly there is. An apostle, a prophet, an evangelist, a teacher, and a pastor. God set these.

Then there’s—there’s nine spiritual gifts that goes into the body, such as speaking with tongues, interpretation of tongue, and wisdom, and—and different of nine spiritual gifts. I Corinthians 12 there that sets the nine gifts. They might be on this person tonight, and on that one tomorrow night, and that one the next night, and all over the building. That’s just for the local body.

38 Now, these may seem teaching. I’m not… I’m a long ways from being a teacher. But teaching is cutting; that’s a special gift in the—in the body of Christ. First there’s apostles, and then prophets, then teachers, and evangelists, pastors; five ministerial gifts in the body. And teaching is one of the gifts of the Spirit. Now, I just have to plug along with what I see that’s right and try to bring it to the people and study and bring the Scriptures together. E-14 Now, the initial and original way to receive any redemptive blessing is by hearing the Word of God, because faith cometh by hearing, hearing the Word of God, like the ministers preach. If that were you and I, that would be sufficient. If the people didn’t want to believe us, why we just let them go on. But God is so good, and so full of mercy, till after all that He sent His Word, then He sent gifts into the church. We all believe that. I Corinthians 12, there is nine spiritual gifts in the church. That’s in every local body, or should be in every local body, the gifts of healing, the gift of wisdom, the gifts of knowledge, the gift of a—a all these other gifts is in the church. Nine different spiritual gifts is in every local body.

Then God has gifts that He has foreknown for each age and has placed them into the church. Now, we find out there’s five of those gifts. The first of them is missionaries or apostles. The word “apostle” means “one sent.” The word “missionary” means “one sent.” A missionary is sent, and apostle is sent. God sends His missionary; God sends His apostles.

E-11 Now, as a preacher, I’m not very much of a preacher. But the Lord has given a gift, a Divine gift. Which in the Scriptures we’re taught that gifts and callings are without repentance. That’s church gifts, not the church, the gifts in the local church which we’re to pray for, like First Corinthians 12. But there’s five ministering gifts which are—are the foreknowledge of God. And the first of those are apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, and pastors. Those are Gods sent gifts to the church.

Apostles or missionaries… We call them “missionary” today. In the early day they called them “apostle.” Now, any one knows—knows that the word “apostle” means “one sent.” And the word “missionary” means “one sent.” So it’s both the same thing. Missionaries, prophets, teachers, evangelists, pastors.

Then in every local church there’s nine spiritual gifts should be operating in that church, if they’re a good praying congregation. And then the pastor who should be the head of the church with the wisdom of God to have that church set in order so no fanaticism, no nothing takes place wrong, just everything proven purely the Spirit of the Holy Ghost working among the people, then you got a real church that’s an example church to all the regions around about. It’s like a—a hive where the bees come, a lovely church.

And I pray that God will bless each one of these men here and give them, if they haven’t already got it, that type of church at the ending of the service. God bless you.

Paul said, “If one—if you all speak with tongues, and one comes in, uneducated, he will say you’re all mad. The unbeliever doesn’t understand. But he says if one is a prophet, and will reveal the thing, then they’ll fall down and say, ‘God is with you.'”

If those Holy Spirit gifts didn’t come down to all the age, why did he speak this for the last days then? If there’s going to be no gifts in the Church in the last days, why did he direct this to the last days then?

E-35 Now, these meetings and people gathering, that’s what it’s for; is to encourage faith, to bring faith up. We couldn’t heal. Certainly not. But we have a part in doing it. That’s preaching the Gospel; that’s one part in doing it. Another part would be speaking with tongues. That’s an in part, if it’s by revelation. And a—a gift of prophecy, that’s another of that. Then signs and wonders, and everything is gifts and everything in the church to stimulate the church, to keep the church together, for every attribute of Jesus’ life, until He returns again in glory. I Corinthians 12. What is it? Rivers, rivers of many waters, many water, many rivers of one water, the Holy Spirit, giving many gifts and blessings from everywhere. He brings rich gifts to you: gifts of healing, gifts of salvation, gifts of the Holy Spirit to work in your church and among the people: rivers. And joy like the rivers it brings. How beautiful.

One of them is the pastor, teacher, and those things. Then the others comes along in confirmation. Gifts are to magnify. And God’s just got it so even a fool will not be excused, will he? He will… It’s so simple the way God has made them. And I like that.

The more simpler you become, the greater you’ll become before God. That’s right. Don’t never try to lift yourself up. When you do, you’re bringing yourself down. See? He that exalts himself shall be abased.

That’s Church offices, not office here on earth, but coming from heaven. Then in the Church, He sends gifts of healing, gifts of prophecy.

Some’s pastors, some’s teachers, some’s evangelists, some’s missionaries and some prophets.

But you oughtn’t to have anyone… Don’t have to teach you saying, “Thou shalt not commit adultery; thou shalt not sware, and take…” You already know that. Your very conscience of the Holy Spirit tells you it’s wrong to do that.

But now, as far as Scriptural teaching, it takes a Holy Ghost anointed. That’s right. And God has set the church in order by apostles and prophets, and gifts of healing, and miracles, and so forth. He set the church in order and put the teachers and so forth in there to guide and direct His church. And this morning, we—as we said, Jesus over the earth as His Body… And just as His body moves, it’s just like a shadow reflecting to the earth. It’ll move with it.

Upon the basis of that, it’s the purpose for the healing… Faith cometh by hearing and hearing of the Word of God. That’s first. God has set some teachers, evangelists, prophets, working of miracles, gifts of healing… All those things are for the perfecting of the Church. Now, there’s nine spiritual gifts that goes in every local body. We believe that: I Corinthians 12. But there is five gifts that’s ordained of God for the church, the body gifts. What is the first? Apostles, and that is not… Really, in our day it’s a missionary, because apostle and a missionary is the very same word. A “missionary” means “one sent.” “Apostle” means “one sent.” Apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, evangelists (See?), five gifts. Now, a man cannot be an apostle because he wants to be. God sets those in the church. And he cannot be a prophet because he wants to be.

Both of them mean “sent, one sent.” Apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, and pastors, God set them by His own grace and His foreknowledge in the church.

1192-10 We believe that the Holy Spirit is putting the same vessel in service. That the Holy Spirit is not another step of grace, but more of the same grace that fills the believer to the extent where that signs and wonders, such as the apostolic gifts spoken of in I Corinthians 12, manifest themself through this believer, when the Holy Spirit comes in to take up the gifts.

I believe that the Scripture teaches that gifts and callings are without repentance, that when we are born in this world, we are sent here by one purpose, that is, of God. And that before we are even become adults, while we’re yet children, the gifts that we have of God is in us then, and only the filling of the Holy Spirit puts these gifts into operation; but we have them in the beginning, such as teachers, and apostles, and–and prophets, and gifts of tongues, and the nine spiritual gifts according to I Corinthians 12. Now, we believe that these gifts are in operation today, and they should be in every local church.

Although, in such we have found throughout the world, that there is much fanaticism hooked along with people who profess to be apostolic believers. Just as they are in other orders, and so forth, we have fanatics. That’s been all along; we’ve had those through the ages, They had it in the apostolic days; and as Paul said there, that how that some had come and persuaded them away, after other doctrines, and so forth. But in his own teaching, he said if an Angel from heaven would teach anything else than what he had taught, let him be accursed.

He takes and sets him up a great big something somewhere, and explains all that away, and perverts it into no more than a lodge, a handshake, or a chicken supper somewhere. When God wants a church that’s borned again, filled with the Holy Ghost and power, and signs and wonders following His Church.

I think that Jesus Christ ought to knowed how to set up a Church. He was the God of heaven made flesh among us. And when He was here on earth He said, “These signs shall follow them that believe; In My Name they shall cast out devils; speak with new tongues; take up serpents; or drink deadly things, it shall not harm them; if they lay their hands on the sick, they shall recover.” Heavens and earth will pass away.

Men will rise and say, “That was for another day.” But God’s truth sails on and will forever. It’ll be the same, because nothing can ever stop it. It’ll move because it’s God’s Word. It’ll never diminish.

I’m very much in doubt, dear friend, that the Lord could efficiently work through you, because you are linked up among unbelievers, and the Bible said, “Yoke yourself not up with unbelievers, but come out from among them, and be ye separated, saith the Lord, then I will receive you.” I believe if you live in a city where there is a church that does believe in signs and spiritual gifts, and you have them things working on you, I would go to that church where they believed it.

And then I might say another thing, as I have—usually give—want to give a Scripture. You probably, dear friend, tried your very best to try to get these people to believe, tried to make them believe, and they simply won’t do it, perhaps. Then I’m going to give you a Scripture that I believe that the Lord Jesus would be pleased with us giving.

I would be a discouraged man this morning if I didn’t believe in the election and calling of God.

That’s the way they did also to the ministers by laying on hands and giving the right hand of fellowship that–to work together, as an agreement before God, that they seen the gift working in this brother; that he was called for something, and we believed it. That’s one way. Another thing He has is the prophets in the Scripture, who can interpret the–the meaning of this person. A seer who sees what this person has done in life, being perfectly secret to him, know what was. If he knows what has been in your life, you know whether that’s right or not. Surely if he knows what has been in life, if he’d tell you what will be, if the first was right, the second will be right. See, it’s got to be.

E-10 That’s the way we accepted the Bible. When Moses wrote the chronology, the–the beginning, the Genesis and so forth, we–we accept what he said, knowing it was right from the way the world was laid out. Then we believe that his prophecy that was to come would be right. And we’ve seen the most of it fulfilled.

Now, in there sometimes He has gifts in the Church. We’ve made havoc, the Church has. Some of them has denied the gifts altogether, and put it on another age. Some people has tried to impersonate the gifts and made a disgrace out of it. That still means there’s a real genuine gift of God. If there’s a bogus dollar, it only shows there’s a real dollar it was made off of. If it isn’t, the bogus is the real.

III-29— WE’VE TOOK ALL THE REST OF THE BODY AWAY

How many knows that? That I don’t claim to be a healer. I’m no healer. I–I’m your brother. See? God is your Healer. See? I just pray for the sick. But God set some in the Church, first apostles, then prophets, then teachers, then evangelists (See?), then gifts of healing, then miracles, divers kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues. All those gifts according to the Scripture was set in for the perfecting of the Church. Is that right? Now, God put them in there.

E-64 Just like, if He made a human being with a ear, He doesn’t intend human beings not to have an ear to be deaf. He made man with mouth. He never will make man without mouth, nose, so forth. That’s the members of the body. And just as sure as my hand was… God made my hand to be my hand.

God put some in the Church to be gifts of healing (that’s prayer of faith, of course.), some of them in there to be teachers and evangelists. Now, what we’ve done, we’ve took all the rest of the body away and just said, “No, teachers and evangelists, that’s all there is (See?), teachers and evangelists.” We fail to see there’s prophets, to fail to see there’s apostles, to fail to see there’s gifts of healing, speaking with tongues, interpretation of tongues, working of miracles. See? Those things go just the same as my eyes, nose. Didn’t Paul say that, I Corinthians? See, they all go in the body.

E-65 Now, these gifts are… You’re born in the world with them. They come by sovereignty of God. Now, it was my part in this world to see vision. And I’ve heard people try to say it was a prophetic or so forth, and I’ve heard people say, “Under the inspiration…” It’d speak it that way. But it’s a subconscious thing. It’s just as I’ve explained it to you before.

IV—THE RESTORATION OF THE BRIDE & 5 FOLD GIFTS

E-6 It is to my humble belief, that we’re living near the end time. Or may I make it a little more personal than that, saying: we’re living in the end time. And if… I believe it’s time for restoration of the church that was promised that God would send in the last day. And I believe that this is the day that when the Word has been preached so much, and the day’s getting so dark and so evil, till according to God’s Word, He was to restore all that the caterpillar had eaten, the palmerworm had eaten, will be restored back again. And this is the day of the restoration of the spiritual gifts given into the church.

Now, along in that, we’re bound to find false things. Satan is—is a shrewd person, and he works day and night in the children of disobedience. He can impersonate, but a true Spirit of God will always give honor and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ.

IV-2—A REAL CHURCH—AN EXAMPLE

E-11 Now, as a preacher, I’m not very much of a preacher. But the Lord has given a gift, a Divine gift. Which in the Scriptures we’re taught that gifts and callings are without repentance. That’s church gifts, not the church, the gifts in the local church which we’re to pray for, like First Corinthians 12. But there’s five ministering gifts which are—are the foreknowledge of God. And the first of those are apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, and pastors. Those are Gods sent gifts to the church.

And I pray that God will bless each one of these men here and give them, if they haven’t already got it, that type of church at the ending of the service. God bless you.

IV-3—NEXT,GIFTS TO BE RESTORED

Then if the serpent being the shadow had healing in it, how much more does the antitype have: both salvation and healing.

You said, “As Moses, so will I be.” We’re trying to point that to the people.

And now, Thou has sent some into the Church, apostles; secondarily, prophets, gifts of healings, working of miracles, teachers, many other wonderful gifts, that You… When You ascended on high, You led captive captive, and give gifts and unto men. And we’re thankful, Lord, that Thou has seen fit in this days to restore these gifts into the Church, that we might cause the unbelieving educated world, like it was in the days of Noah, before the antediluvian destruction… How smart, how they could build those pyramids, spinxes, embalm bodies that look natural even till today, great things that they can do, smart. But by the foolishness of preaching you save those which would believe.

E-33 And now, these gifts is what’s doing that. See, the system’s changed. The church has led the world ever since Martin Luther’s time. Is that right? But the church age is dying out now. It’s right. That’s the Moses part. It’s dying out, because as Moses failed God, so has the church failed God: I mean the denominations. You see what I mean? How many thinks you understand what I’m speaking of? Thank you, friends.

Look. Satan tries to tell me sometime that they—they don’t get it. But I know you do. See? That has failed. The church has failed, because it’s got to a place if you’re not Methodist, you’re not in it; if you not Baptist, you’re not in it; if you’re not belong to the Assemblies of God, you’re not in it; if you don’t belong to the Oneness, you’re not in it; if—if you don’t belong to this one or that, you’re not in it.

E-34 The church has failed. See? Instead of bringing the people together as one body, it separated them out. Just like Moses, instead of speaking to the rock, he smote the rock (You see?), and it failed. So the church will never take the people over Jordan. That’s right.

But now, God has changed His order, and He’s sending back… You who mark my word, there’s great men on the road to this world. That’s right. There’s great powers on the road to this world. And it’ll be a people that’ll call out a people. Remember, “Come out of her, My people.” Is that right? Babylon, confusion that… And not the people now, not out of your churches, but come out of that confusion among you. You see? Come out; let’s serve God with one heart and one mind and one accord. Is that right? And then God will take His church over Jordan. That’s over death. Now, you believe that with all your heart.

IV-5—COMING MINISTRY OF PERFECTION

Now, I believe that there’s a church coming into that perfection, that ministry of perfection, where the offices, where apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, evangelists for the perfecting of the church, them pastors, and teachers, and so forth, will be so with the Word until the whole thing will work right up to the coming of the Lord. I believe that, and I believe we’re nearing that time now. I believe it’s so.

E-95 Did you know that the Bible speaks of the appearing of the Lord, and also the coming of the Lord, and it’s two different works? Search it and find out if that’s right. The appearing and the coming is two different things. The appearing of the Lord is now. He’s appearing amongst His people. We see Him in His same works, the appearing, His Holy Spirit. But His coming will be in a physical being. It’ll be to catch the church up.

But see, we’ve been down through the Word, justification, sanctification, baptism of the Holy Ghost. And now the church is getting in such a condition, ready, waiting. The offices… And the offices of the church is coming into its place. The teachers are placing the places. The gifts are manifesting themselves.

Oh, there’s a lot of impersonations. That’s right. We expect that. But there’s real too. Before there can be a bogus dollar there has to be a real one for it to be made off of. That’s right. We have all those carnal comparisons, but that don’t take away from the real. It only—it only makes the real shine out.

IV-6—DESIRE TO TEACH ON GIFTS, SET THE CHURCH IN ORDER

E-60 Now, remember if Jesus has raised from the dead, He’s alive. And He’s works through His Church. And He set some in the church what? First missionaries or apostles (both the same, “one sent”), second prophets, teachers, evangelists, pastors. Is that what the Bible said? He set five church offices. Missionaries, prophets, teachers, evangelists, pastors for the perfecting of the church.

Then there’s nine spiritual gifts that operate through the bod—the body. Now, one of them is the gift of knowledge, gift of wisdom, gift of tongues, gift of interpretation, and all those things, gift of prophecy.

Now, there’s a vast difference between the gift of prophecy and a prophet. A gift of prophecy goes from one to another. And before the church can even received it, it’s got to be judged before three spiritual judges. And if it don’t come to pass then it’s wrong. You got the wrong spirit among you.

Like speaking of tongues and interpretations… There’s where you Pentecostal people’s let down. I’m not your judge, but that’s the Word. That’s right. You went haywire on that. You better watch them things that they absolutely be done decently and in order and when the message goes, hear it.

E-61 Come down at the tabernacle one time. Watch how we operate it there. Them things has to be every word true. If it doesn’t that person goes to the altar and get that evil spirit off of them. God don’t lie. God tells the truth. See? Then you have the church in order.

That’s what we’re going to teach when we get the tent. So we can get the big church and see if God can get to set together. All them gifts goes in the church, but the people just get them and just go anyway with them. Like Paul said, “People say you’re crazy.” That’s what’s hurt the Pentecostal church. Certainly.

You’ve had the gifts but you—your pastor has failed to… Excuse me, brethren. I didn’t mean that. I… Well, I… Yes, I did too. I’ll not take it… I don’t mean to hurt your feelings, I mean. See?

But look. It’s failed to set that church in the right order. That’s right. That’s what the church needs today. Let that church get in order and watch all the hell turn loose then. Yes, sir. It’ll come together.

E-62 You know it was Solomon’s first… temple of God was cut out all over the world, but when it come together, every stone went right to its place. See? The Chief Cornerstone, the rejected One, was to become the Chief of the corner.

Now, all these spiritual gifts… Now, a gift of prophecy… A prophet is borned a prophet. A gift of prophecy is on one and then the other, one and then the other. It’s all… It’s just in the church. And all nine spiritual gifts should be operating in every local body. Yeah, and there ought to be judges there and so forth and the church in order and working right.

V—THE ADOPTION &

And God’s someday, if the people who are borned again of the Spirit of God, then the Tutor brings message to Father one day it’s called to the side, and visited by God, and positionally placed into the body of Christ as a teacher, prophet, evangelist, teacher, pastor, whatever you have been obedient since he’s been born, God places that person. You see it?

E-31 Healing is a marvelous thing. But if it’s misused, placed in the wrong position, then it becomes a reproach. All the other gifts are the same. And that’s what, through this week, I’ve been trying to tell you, my dear friends. It isn’t that I’ve been trying to be indifferent; it’s the things that I know, that these great things are not positionally placed where they should be placed. Explain to you, if everything was operating perfect in harmony with God, this great Pentecostal group would be one great, big Pentecostal church of the living God. That’s right. But the way we misuse… The gifts are here. But, as I said the other morning, we hold so much on speaking in tongues and interpretation.

E-32 Now, watch it. That’s the last and the least of the gifts. The first gift was wisdom; the second gift was knowledge. And what good is it going to do to have knowledge if you haven’t got wisdom to know how to take care of your knowledge? What good does it do to speak with tongues if you haven’t got wisdom to know when and how to place it? Same thing with healing, with any of the other gifts…

And that’s the reason we won’t listen; it’s just… I ain’t laying it onto the laity so much; I’m laying it onto the preachers. It’s just so confused with their organizations. If you’ve got an organization, that’s all right. I wish we had more organizations, and every church was it’s own organization, would be all right with me, as long as the unity of brotherhood and fellowship, to be amongst the people in one great big bubble of love. See where we miss it?

If we in the Methodist, in the Baptist, in the Oneness, in the United, in the Assemblies, Church of God, Nazarene, Pilgrim Holiness, if we were obedient children… When our founders raised up, they got a revelation on something and built an organization around it. That’s all right; it’s okay, if you would build your organization and end it with a comma: “We believe this, plus as much as what God can show us.” But the trouble, we build our organization and end it with a period: “This is it, and that’s all of it.” Then God can’t work. See? And then in doing that, the devil comes around and can give you false things. What we ought to do is big—one big body of love all together, every church, and the different…

V-4—GOD SETS TRUE MINISTERS

And the Word said that He set five offices in the church: apostles or missionaries, prophets, teachers, evangelist, and pastors—I mean true God-called teachers, evangelists, prophets, and pastors. That’s right. And if we are the Vine—or we are the branches, and He’s the Vine, He energizes the Vine with His Life. And if it’s a apple tree life, it’ll bring forth apples, is that right? And if we’re the branches, and we are energized with Jesus Christ, it’ll reproduce the life of Jesus Christ again. That’s what the church is supposed to do, not something without life, but His life, what He did. “These things that I do shall you also.” Watch that.

Ephesians 4:30, said, “Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you’re sealed until the day of your redemption.”

When a church is groaning under the persecution of the outside world, believing on the Lord Jesus, that the promise of the Holy Ghost is just as real to us as it was to Pentecost, how they groan and cry under labor pains. But when they are born, and positionally born into the Kingdom of God, then the Holy Ghost has set in the church, some apostles, some prophets, some teachers, some pastors, some evangelists. Then in each local church is gifts, nine different spiritual gifts. It just–it’s not only on one, it goes from one to the other and back and forth. And Paul said, “You all may prophesy.” Now, them’s not all prophets; that’s the gift of prophecy. A gift of prophecy, it has to be judged by two or three judges before it can even be given to the church, or past upon. But if God sends a prophet, it’s borned a prophet, always, with THUS SAITH THE LORD. See?

Now, God wrote it in His Word; that should be sufficient. If it was my word, or your word, and people wouldn’t take it, I’d say, “Let them go.” But not God. God’s not willing that any should perish. Then He sends teachers, apostles, prophets, and different gifts into the church. What to do? To scatter the church? No, but to draw the church together for the perfecting of the body of Jesus Christ. He’s coming soon, and if He–if He had a body in the beginning back there with all the signs and wonders in it, the body He comes for will have to be the same kind of body, or it would be a freak body.

That’s… It’s… The plumbing’s all right, but we can’t save them by water. You know that’s right. And that’s a good thing for a Baptist to say. But that’s true. That’s true as…

Now if you got theology, if you got some doctrine, if you got some superstition, you got some unbelief, you got something that stops up somewhere, then that energy can never pull through you. But when you got to a place where you’re perfectly wired, and the Master Electrician has okayed it by sealing it with the Holy Spirit, the only thing is just turn on the switch then, and there’ll be a light show, and that’s right.

VI—THEIR FUNCTION & PURPOSE

VI-1—5 FOLD SET THE CHURCH IN ORDER

E-40 [Blank.spot.on.tape—Ed.]… aren’t called by the church, or so forth, they are chosen by God: Apostles; second, prophets; third, (I may not have these lined just right,) third I think is teachers, and evangelists, and pastors. Five spiritual offices in the church to set the church in order: Apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, pastors, those are called offices by God. Then in the local congregation, there’s nine spiritual gifts that work among the people.

Now, in these offices and places, in the offices you hear from the apostle, his ministry. You hear from the prophet, his ministry, from the evangelists, from the teacher, from the pastor. Each has a separate ministry. And their ministries is of God. God has set them in the church for this purpose.

Then God comes down in the form of the Holy Spirit amongst His congregation, speaks with tongues, another one interprets and tells a certain person a thing to do, and it happens that way. Maybe that would be sometime when there was a need. Then there’s gifts of wisdom, knowledge, interpretations, all kinds of gifts that goes into the church. But the first way and all of it has to come first by the Word, the Word.

VI-2—TO MAKE US ONE IN HIM—UNITY

E-23 Now, God has, after all of that in His Word, He has set in the Church some apostles, prophets, teachers, gifts of healing, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues, and all the different gifts He’s set in the Church for the—the edifying of the Church, to bring the Church together, to make us one (Is that right? That’s right.), to make us one in Him, a brotherhood of one soul, one heart, one body, one Spirit.

For we’re not baptized in two spirits, one Spirit, one God, Father of us all, through all, in all, over all. And there’s where these gifts in the Church, some of them can speak with tongues, a gift of speaking with tongues. Another one has the gift of interpretation of tongues. Some are sent to preach.

So, these gifts are put in the Church to bring the Church to God to let you know, to show you what Jesus died for is your personal property. All these are done. And there’s nine spiritual gifts that go into the Church also I Corinthians 12. E-69 He’s got ordained men here to do that, but besides that, God put four God-called offices in the church: Apostles, which is actually missionary. “Missionary” means “one sent”; “apostle” means “one sent”. When we can… Each one of us has a different ministry; each one works different. Each one of you has a ministry, a separate ministry. All that comes into Christ has a ministry. That’s right. Not only the preacher, but you have a ministry to something, you—something you can do. And (I hope this don’t sound sacrilegious), but usually God has to drive you into your correct ministry.

Some Methodist brethren, the other day, had just received the Holy Ghost (they’re farmer’s up in Indiana), and oh, they was just all of fire. And he said, “I’ve been reading some books,” said, “Brother Branham, should we all come together now and seek for our ministry?”

I said, “No, you’ll ruin yourself doing that.” I said, “You don’t do that.” I said, “A man that’s always seeking for God to do something, search and such-and-such a things, usually don’t amount to very much. It’s the man that doesn’t want to do it; that’s the one God can use. See, look at—look at Moses, and Paul, and different ones running from it, trying to get away from it.

You take a fellow that’s always, “Lord, I’ll do this, if You’ll do this,” and things like that; God knows he’d be a stuffed shirt anyhow. So He just takes somebody who don’t want to do it and say, “Maybe I can use him a little while, till he gets to be one.” So that’s about it. It’s—you try to get away from it all the time. Great ministries has always been somebody trying to get away from it (See?), not one who’s always… ‘Cause, let God do something for them, and then they’re all puffed out, big, and “how great” and everything. But a man that doesn’t want to do it, just—he just forced to do it, and then he wants to get away from it as quick as he can, get out of sight. And that’s usually the way that God works.

If he tries that old dry sermon, he will make his congregation go to sleep. But if he goes ahead and follows the Spirit, God will lead him right out into deep waters with it. You know that’s right. God’s trying to get a message forth.

But God made him that way for his work. He made me this way for this work. Now, we’re trying to look behind the curtain of time. Well, perhaps I’d be the one to do it. Now, what will I do? I’d jump way up and grab a hold. And the little short fellow, he couldn’t do that, and I couldn’t lift his load. See what I mean?

Maybe you preach, maybe you’re a pastor, maybe you’re a teacher, maybe you’re a evangelist. You don’t see visions. I see vision, and I’m—I’m none of them. See? But God has set in the church all these things for the perfecting of the body. Now, do you follow me?

105 The evangelist is a special man. He’s a man that’s burning like a fireball. He runs into a city and preaches his message, then gets out of there somewhere else. See, he’s a special man.

106 The teacher is a special man. He sits back under the anointing of the Spirit and is able to take the Words and put them together by the Holy Spirit, that, the pastor or evangelist either one could not compare with him.

107 And then, we find out, the apostle is a special man. He’s a—he’s a “setter-in-order.” He’s a man that’s sent from God to set the things in order.

109 A prophet foresees way off, see, the things that is coming. He sees the cup of God’s wrath, full, before it is filled. See? He can say, “THUS SAITH THE LORD! God will destroy this city except you repent.” Why? He’s an eagle. He rides way in yonder. See? And he looks way off there and he sees that cup of wrath poured out. That’s what the prophets look at. He ain’t looking what’s going on here, he’s looking yonder! He’s saying, “It’s coming!” He can go so high till he can see that shade. He said, “The world will be dark—darkness and gross darkness.” He’s up high enough, the sun’s shining now, but he sees that shade coming, and he’s—he’s—he’s saying what he’s looking at. It ain’t here yet, but it’ll sure be here! That’s right. It’s going to be here, gross darkness upon the people. He knows it’s coming, years away, yet he sees it.

110 Amos, that anointed prophet of God, he saw the—the darkness and the judgment. He seen Syria come down with their chariots and sweep through there, slaughter them people out. He saw it coming and the judgment of God upon them, now, fifty years before it happened. But, you see, being a prophet, he was lifted up into the Spirit and he saw it far off. See? He saw the cup, full, before it was filled.

E-24 Now, we know that people that don’t believe in Divine gifts, and yet they’re preachers, how did they get their inspiration then to preach from? If there’s not a gift of preaching, then according to that, every person’s a preacher. And they’re inspired for a certain work.

And then some people may possess more than one gift. But there’d at least be one gift or more in a person. And then all these things together, working together, for the up-building of the Body of Christ, getting Her ready to go.

To me, the elected, selected for an office, maybe those ministers… You never—I never want to belittle a pastor before his people, because after all, he’s set as shepherd. Your pastors here might not be able to discern spirit and foretell things that’s coming to pass. They might not be able to do that, but they have a position. Neither am I a teacher. Nor, I’m not—I’m not a apostle. See? These five offices… And each one of them men has an office, and he’s holding his office. And that office is just as great in the sight of God as any other office.

And if this certain church age falls asleep, waiting on the Lord, the second church age falls asleep, even to the seventh watch, no matter how many ages fall asleep, they will all rise at the coming of the Lord, and shall be caught up together with those that are alive and remain to meet the Lord in the air. And we’re looking for that glorious day, and I believe that if God will help us before the week is over, I—I believe that we will see clearer than every before. I hope my eyes are open to a lot of things too, ’cause I’m here to learn like all of us are. I’m here to draw from you people something that—that to help me.

Many people think that the evangelist doesn’t need any help. You’re mistaken. He’s needs more help than all the congregation does, because he’s standing between the enemy and the congregation.

VII-8—EACH MINISTER HAS A SEPERATE MINISTRY

E-17 Now, God has set, not man, God has set in the church first is—or apostles, secondary, prophets, teachers, pastors and so forth. God set them in the church. If God put them in there, they’re qualified for the job. God wouldn’t put a man in a tower, in a position like that that said, “The days of miracles is past.” God would not put a man into position like that to be a prophet or a seer that would say that Jesus Christ isn’t the same yesterday, today, and forever, when the Bible declares Him to be. God would not put a man in a tower there, that would preach a wishy-washy Gospel and not tell the truth and warn the people of the wrath that is to come. He’d put a man in there that would be bold, that would have the—a spirit that seen the oncoming judgment; and regardless of what the people said, he’d warn them anyhow, cry out against it. He doesn’t put blind prophets in His tower. He puts prophets, preachers who foresees the coming judgment and warns the people to flee.

E-59 Now, the Bible said that God has set in the church, first apostles, or missionaries, both the same word. How people ever want to be called missionary, I don’t know. I think apostle’s better. But “apostle” means “one sent.” What does missionary mean? “One sent.” Apostles, prophets (That’s seers.), evangelists, pastors, and teachers, five different offices God has set in the church. You can’t cut part of them out, and leave the rest of them; you’ve got to take them all. God has set it… A pastor’s not an evangelist, evangelist not apostle. Apostle’s not a seer, and so forth. And then the other people feel like you’re a traitor or a backslider or—or a—a demon or something because you don’t tell them what they want to know. See, that’s not the office, the way a prophet operates.

E-14 014 Now, the initial and original way to receive any redemptive blessing is by hearing the Word of God, because faith cometh by hearing, hearing the Word of God, like the ministers preach. If that were you and I, that would be sufficient. If the people didn’t want to believe us, why we just let them go on. But God is so good, and so full of mercy, till after all that He sent His Word, then He sent gifts into the church. We all believe that. I Corinthians 12, there is nine spiritual gifts in the church. That’s in every local body, or should be in every local body, the gifts of healing, the gift of wisdom, the gifts of knowledge, the gift of a—a all these other gifts is in the church. Nine different spiritual gifts is in every local body.

Then God has gifts that He has foreknown for each age and has placed them into the church. Now, we find out there’s five of those gifts. The first of them is missionaries or apostles. The word “apostle” means “one sent.” The word “missionary” means “one sent.” A missionary is sent, and apostle is sent. God sends His missionary; God sends His apostles.

E-15 First is apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, pastors, those five God-given gifts in the church. So each of you people, who has a godly pastor, has a gift from God in your church, a shepherd. “Pastor” means “a shepherd,” to watch over the flock, to teach them the Word of God.

Then these other nine different spiritual gifts should be operating in the church to keep the church clean. Like the Ananias and Sapphiras and so forth, the Spirit of God rise up and call somebody out and tell them they’re living wrong, and—and rebuke that sin openly, and that’s what the Holy Spirit is in the church for, to keep the church clean and ready for the coming of the Lord. We believe that.

And now remember, when… If you wouldn’t take my word for it, or I wouldn’t take your word, that would settle it. But not God. God sends gifts into the Church to still, to be sure that everyone will be without an excuse.

Some of those gifts are… Oh, well, there’s—there’s nine spiritual gifts that goes into every local body. How many believes that? I Corinthians 12. That’s speaking with tongues, interpretation of tongues, and gifts of prophecy, and—and a discernments, and all the different… wisdom and knowledge, and—and gifts of healing. And all that goes into the local body.

Now, how can you say there’s a pastor or evangelist without saying there’s a prophet? How can you say there’s a prophet when there isn’t an apostle? See, some people like to say, “Oh, there’s pastors, and evangelists, and teachers, but they don’t want to say prophets. Don’t you believe that?

Men, don’t take women’s place; don’t dress like women. And women don’t dress like men. The Bible says it’s wrong to do that. Now, how you going to do, but just call out against it? Well, then when you do that…

E-98 So now (You see?), the—no minister’s got any rights, no matter how smart, how much theology he knows, and how well he knows the Bible, he’s got no business in the pulpit preaching the Gospel until first he has met God; not presuming that “I ought to go out. I’ll make a better living, and Hope I won’t have to work too hard.” You’re mistaken there, brother, if you’re really a preacher. Now. But, “I’ll… and people will be this way, and I’ll be popular amongst the—the neighborhood where I am, and things like that. And I think it’s the right thing to do.” That’s not it.

A call of God is something you don’t presume. It’s something… An actual experience, something that you’ve talked face to face with God, and you know you’re commissioned to go do it. “Surely I’ll be with you.” You don’t presume nothing. You just believe it. Yes. Don’t presume it.

E-17 And now, if you’ll notice, and humbly saying this… Now, gifts and callings are placed in the Church by God, God alone. No seminary never made a preacher. God had to call His preacher. Don’t you believe that? Why, sure.

He might learn… Oh, he might get a—a Bachelor of Art, or he might be a Doctor of Divinity, but that don’t make him any more of a preacher than when God spoke to his heart. That’s right. That’s true. And so I believe that.

But God sets in the Church, first apostles, and then prophets, and so forth. God places in the Church… Now, those Divine gifts in the Church are for the Church and the perfecting of the Church, to call the Church to one big Body. And any true minister will never draw lines: “Just because you don’t believe with me, you’re not in it.” We will all recognize one another as brothers because Jesus died for all of us. Now, everybody can’t be a preacher, but you got a voice. And if you can’t preach the people a sermon… If you’re a preacher, you’re called to the pulpit to preach. If you’re not, you’re still a preacher, but live the people a sermon. Let your sermon be lived, and it’s the voice of God that’ll bring reproach to them who reject it. They say, “No one can put a finger on his or her life. They’re sweet, living… They… If there ever was a man of God, it’s that man or that woman.” See, live your sermons. Don’t try to preach them if you’re not called to be a preacher; get all mixed up, anyhow, and messed up, and you’ll get people tangled up, and you won’t know… Well, you’ll—you’ll ruin them and yourself too. Just live your sermon.

The preacher’s called to preach his and to live it too. If you can’t live it, then stop preaching it. But you’re supposed to live your sermons.

7-3 That’s why the preacher preaches. That’s why he studies and meditates in the Scripture and seeks for inspiration, is because he is a public servant to God’s people, and he’s trying to find something that will—that God would have to say to His people, something that would help them. Maybe it might be condemn them in their sins, but would be a help to raise them up; that they might forsake their sins and then raise up to serve the Lord. And ministers should seek these things.

I do not think that we should ever, by any means, ever try to judge a person by the denomination they belong to, or by the group that they are assembled with, whether they be Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, or—or whatever they are. We should never judge the man by the denomination that he belongs to. We should always judge him by the spirit he has (See?), the spirit. Whether he’s latter rain or former rain or inner, outer rain, or no rain, or whatever it might be, we should never judge him by that, but by his spirit. We are to discern spirits. Watch what the man has in mind, what he has—what he’s trying to achieve. If the man, by a gift, no matter how great the gift is…

12 009 Now, I want to get this to the church this morning, which in the different denominations you are still the church of the living God together. And this is the thing I want to get to you (See?), that we are really not divided. We are the stones that’s cut in different forms, all to the glory of God.

Now, there is so much in the day that we live in pertaining to gifts. So many people judge people by gifts that they have. Well, I believe that these things are gifts. I believe that what we see take place is gifts, and they are God-given gifts. But we—if we do not use them in the right way that God intended them to be used, then we can do more harm with the gifts than we could if we did not have the gifts. The other night I made a statement at the pulpit, saying this, that I would rather see brotherly love existing among the church, if we didn’t have one case of healing or anything else. See, we must know what these things are for.

14 010 Now, if a man comes and he has a great gift, no matter if he belongs to our denomination or another denomination, don’t judge him by what denomination he come from, how he dresses, but what you want to see is what he’s trying to do with that gift, what purpose he has. If he’s trying to take his influence and build himself a great name out of it, I’d have discernment of spirit enough to know that’s wrong. No matter how great a teacher he is, how powerful he is, how intellectual he is, or how his gift operates, if he isn’t trying to achieve something for the benefit of the body of Christ, your own spiritual discernment would tell you that that’s wrong. No matter how accurate, how perfect, how it is, it’s wrong if it isn’t used for the body of Jesus Christ.

15 011 To achieve something, maybe he’s got a great gift that he could draw people together with a great intellectual or a spiritual power, that he could draw people together, and maybe he’s trying to take that gift and make hisself famous so that he’ll have a big name, so that other brethren will look up to him as some big person. Then that’s wrong. Maybe he’s trying to—to edify a certain thing here that he wants everybody else to get out of the picture and let him and his group be the picture. That’s still wrong. See?

16 012 But if he has a gift of God and he’s trying to edify the Body of Christ, then I don’t care what he belongs to. You’re not discerning the man, you’re discerning the spirit, the life that’s in the man. And that’s what God told us to do. Not one time was we ever commissioned to discern the—the man’s group. But we was constrained and commanded by God to discern the spirit in the man, what he’s trying to do, what the spirit in his life is trying to lead him to. And then if we can find out that he’s trying to lead the people (not to break them up, but to bring them together) and to bring the church of the living God, not all to one denomination, but to a understanding, a fellowship, a unity of spirit. Then if he is former rain or latter rain, or whatever it is, his spirit and his purpose is right. And the spirit that’s in him, no matter what move he belongs to, the Spirit that’s in him is trying to point the people to Calvary, away from himself or away from anything else, but his only achievement he has is to point them to Calvary. He doesn’t care whether he’s even knowed or not. He doesn’t care whether even his own movement… which is fine (See?), it’s good, if he is a Methodist, or a Presbyterian, or a Roman Catholic, or whatever he wants to be by denomination.

17 013 But what is he trying to do, the purpose of his heart that he’s trying to get? Then you can see what’s in the man’s life, whether his motives is for his—his denomination, whether it’s for hisself, whether it’s for worldly things, whether it’s for big names, to say, “I predicted that, come just exactly to pass.” Now, you see that’s wrong right there, to begin with. But if he’s trying to use what God’s give him, as a teacher, as a prophet, as a seer…

18 014 A New Testament prophet is a preacher. We all know that. Just any minister that’s a preacher is a prophet, a New Testament prophet, if he’s prophesying, preaching, not to try to edify himself to make a big name, or to edify his organization. Which, he should be in an organization. Here I am without one, but yet preaching you should be. That’s right. Every man ought to have a church home. You ought to have a place, not just to float about from pillar to post, but have somewhere that you go to church and you call it your church, somewhere you pay your tithe, and somewhere that you help support the cause. Take your choice, but then don’t never disfellowship the other man because he don’t belong with your group. See? Discern his spirit and see if he’s got the same purpose in heart, then you got fellowship one with another. You’re working for one great cause. That’s the cause of Christ. I think that that is absolutely true.

19 015 Now, if we will notice the motives and objectives of the Old Testament prophets, them men had one objective, and that was Jesus Christ. They had one thing that their whole theme of the Old Testament was built around the coming Messiah. They—they did not go out and do things just for money or for fame. They had one thing, they were anointed with the Spirit of God, and they predicted the coming Messiah. And those men were so anointed with the Spirit until they sometimes acted like the Spirit that was within them, they spoke seemingly of themselves. Watch how the Spirit of God made them men act.

Now, he was a called prophet. Prophets are foreknown. They are placed in the church, like the offices, the five offices in the church. First there’s apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, evangelists. See? Those offices God puts in the church. Then there’s nine spiritual gifts in that church, which is speaking in tongues, prophecies, and so forth like that. Lot of difference between prophets (a man giving a prophecy) and a prophet. A prophecy has to be judged by two or three judges; a prophet is borned a prophet and raised a prophet. See? It’s foreordained of God for that age.

108 The prophet is a special man. A prophet is a man of whom the Word of the Lord comes to, because the prophet is so designed life that his subconscious and his first conscious is so close together that he doesn’t go to sleep to dream his dream; he sees it when he’s wide awake. See? Now, that’s something God has to do. See, he sees what’s going.

A prophet foresees way off (See?) the things that is coming. He sees the cup of God’s wrath, full, before it is filled. See? He can say, “THUS SAITH THE LORD. God will destroy this city except you repent.” Why? He’s an eagle. He rides way in yonder. See? And he looks way off there, and he sees that cup of wrath poured out. That’s what the prophets look at. He ain’t looking what’s going on here; he’s looking yonder. He’s saying, “It’s a-coming.” He can go so high till he can see that shade. He said, “The world will be…?… darkness and gross darkness.” He’s up high enough, the sun’s shining now, but he sees that shade coming, and he’s—he’s—he’s saying what he’s looking at. It ain’t here yet, but it’ll sure be here. That’s right. It’s going to be here, gross darkness upon the people. He knows it’s coming, years away, yet he sees it.

Amos, that anointed prophet of God, he saw the—the darkness and the judgment. He seen Syria come down with their chariots and sweep through there, slaughter them people out. He saw it coming and the judgment of God upon them now, fifty years before it happened. But, you see, being a prophet, he was lifted up into the Spirit and he saw it far off. See? He saw the cup full before it was filled.

E-9 Now, there’s a difference between a gift of prophecy, and a prophet. One is a gift of prophecy, and the other one is a prophet. A gift of prophecy must be judged by two or three spiritual men. It can come upon one person tonight, be on another person tomorrow night, and on another one the next night. What it is, is a gift in every local body, a church.

But a prophet is different. They are borned a prophet. And they come up prophets. All that they say must be true, every time, or it cannot be recognized as a prophet in the office. Now, God has done wonderful things for us. He’s not willing that any should perish. He wants us all to come home to Him.

759-71 A prophet stays back here till he stomps right into the hospital, or wherever he’s going, with THUS SAITH THE LORD and say it and stomp back out again. He’s no evangelist at all. He don’t hold meetings and discuss things, he’s got the Word of the Lord for whoever he’s sent to.

If he’s sent to the White House, he stomps right up in front of the White House and it’s THUS SAITH THE LORD. If it’s to the Governor of the state, whoever it is, it’s THUS SAITH THE LORD. He don’t fool around with a group of churches, trying to get them to come in and take the Word, and preach these things like evangelists, he’s not an evangelist.

Here’s another one on one side wants it ritualistically…?… it off. And usually, the cold formal gets…?… because they’re the educated, scholarly type, and till both of them has nothing spiritual. And the first thing you know, your church freezes up. And if they don’t watch, they’re both of them bragging. And then the first thing you know, why, they’ll you take off on this side.

But pray God to send you some sensible sound Gospel preacher that’ll stand in the way, and give you a little bit of spanking when you need it and love you when you need it…?… and keep you lined up with the Scripture and with the Spirit. He’s a shepherd watching over your soul. If you got that pastor, flee to God and pray for him all the time. Listen to him.

E-3 It’s been one of the most amazing things that I have noticed a long the lines of my ministry for our Lord Jesus, is the peculiarity of people. And the study of human life is one of the greatest things that—that a person can study: to watch nature of people. And the different parts of the nations and worlds to where you go, you’ll notice that there’s a different—there’s a different attitude that people take towards Christ, towards His service, and towards His servants, towards worship. And one of the things has been, that one type of meeting will just be wonderful in one part of the country, where it won’t work in the other part of the country.

Now, I believe, mostly to blame for that… Or not to blame, but mostly is the way the people are taught. And the church will never live higher than its pastor teaches. You seldom find that. If you got a good, sound, sane, Gospel teacher, you’ll usually find that type of church. And it’s just where your pastor leads you, the—the pastors that you feed on.

Well, that’s what Christ is doing to His church. He’s sending us gifts of the Spirit. How can you be engaged then when you’re denying these gifts exist? It’s the very love tokens. She—she—she doesn’t want to be my bride. And if Christ sends His church the gifts that He promised, and they refuse them and say they’re not so, they don’t want to be the Bride of Christ. Watch what your absolute is.
