II CORINTHIANS 11:3

3    But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

GENESIS 3:2 - 5

2    And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

GENESIS 3:3

3    But of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

GENESIS 3:4

4    And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

GENESIS 3:5

5    For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

STANDING.IN.THE.GAP_  JEFF.IN  V-6 N-7  SUNDAY_  63-0623M

173    God bless you each one and we hope to see you again real soon. Till then, will you do this one favor for me now, both here and on tapes also, you brethren? Pray that God will place into my heart that something that I lost out there in that complex. It's so easy to build a complex. I had a interview the other day with my Brother Way setting here, setting here in front of us: a good man but built hisself around a complex, another kind of a complex. Did the same thing. Brother Way, you can so easily do it. It's... You just get a little something in your mind, keep thinking that way... Go back and check it with the Scripture, see if it's right or not, and then go from there on. Yeah. Don't lose the feeling of the people. See? You must remember they're not made out of sawdust; they're flesh and blood, human beings with a soul. Pray for me, all of you, if you will. God bless you now.

HUMBLE.THYSELF_  JEFF.IN  V-21 N-1  SUNDAY_  63-0714E

94    Now, surely, after all these years on the field and around the world, and seeing different people, I ought to know a little bit about the gate to enter in at. And if you want to get somewhere with God, never let an arrogant spirit ever come around you. Don't let no malice come in. No matter what anybody's done, if they are wrong, don't you never build up a complex against that person. See? You be sweet and kind. Remember, God loved you when you were in sin. And if the Spirit of God's in you, you love the other person when he's in wrong. See? Just pray for them and love one another.

Above everything, love God and love one another. And be humble with God and around one another, and God will bless it, and it's hard telling what He will do. Usually when a church begins to get in numbers and get to getting a little bigger, or something like that, then they get away from that real thing, the real thing.

Complex – complicated (containing intricately combined or involved parts. Not easy to understand or analyze.), consisting of interconnected or interwoven parts; composite (to put together). Something you build.

Simple (syn. Pure) - Having or composed of only one thing, element, or part. Not involved or complicated; easy: a simple task. Being without additions or modifications; mere: a simple “yes” or “no.” Humble.

FELLOWSHIP_  MIDDLETOWN.OH  SATURDAY_  60-0611B

E-17    And men just educate themselves till they'll--they educate themselves away from one another. They get complexes. You don't get no complex by the Blood of Jesus Christ; you get love. That's where... that's... You get love, not a complex, that, "I'm a little bigger than somebody else, little better than somebody else, and know a little more than somebody else." You just got your arms around everybody, and it's a basis of love through the Blood. The Blood cleanses.

GREAT.COMING.REVIVAL_  CHICAGO.IL  SUNDAY_  54-0718A

E-23    And America is having it's revival now. You can't hardly understand it, maybe. Maybe it's hard to see, but it's kind of an undercoat, just like when Jesus was here. When He came on the earth, He was a sign of destruction. The Jews, how they got away and complicated the religion of--of the Jew--Judaism until the poor people couldn't understand it. Why, they had to be a--have a degree. All their ministers had to be great scholars, and they made it so a complicated till the poor people just emptied their pockets of money into the treasures and so forth. And they didn't even understand the services, because they were talked in different high toned orthodox Judaism and so forth until they--they couldn't understand it.

And Jesus came to the poor people as a sign. Now, what am I trying to say? You say, "Jesus was a sign, the preaching to the poor?" That's what He said, Himself.

He said, "Go show John these things: The lame walk; the blind see; the deaf hear; and the poor has the Gospel preached unto them." A sign, a sign of the end time for that civilization, or--or that nation of Jews. It was a sign, and they failed to recognize their sign.

II CORINTHIANS 11:3

3    But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

ISAIAH 35:8

JOB 3:25

25       For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

MARK 12:36

36    For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

MARK 12:37

37    David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he [then] his son? And the common people heard him gladly.

MARK 12:38

38    And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and [love] salutations in the marketplaces,

39    And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

MARK 12:40

40    Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.

II KINGS 5:9

9     ¶  So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.

II KINGS 5:10

10    And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.

II KINGS 5:11

11    But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

II KINGS 5:12

12    [Are] not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.

II KINGS 5:13

13    And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, [if] the prophet had bid thee [do some] great thing, wouldest thou not have done [it]? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?

II KINGS 5:14

14    Then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

I KINGS 19:2

2    Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do [to me], and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.

3    And when he saw [that], he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which [belongeth] to Judah, and left his servant there.

I KINGS 19:4

4    But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I [am] not better than my fathers.

I KINGS 19:18

18    Yet I have left [me] seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

II PETER 1:5

  5     ¶  And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

II PETER 1:6

  6    And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

II PETER 1:7

6       And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

REVELATION 22:17

17    And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

REVELATION 22:18

18    For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

ELIJAH_  PHOENIX.AZ  TUESDAY_  55-0301

E-42    "He that heareth My Words, believeth on him that sent Me, has Everlasting Life." Sounds simple. You said, "Even a fool shouldn't error." Nothing binding, nothing complicated, just purely accepting it, believing it, because Christ talking to the heart. You said, "No man can come to Me except My Father draws him first."

CURTAIN.OF.TIME_  PHOENIX.AZ  WEDNESDAY_  55-0302

E-28    Don't try to go away and get all these big educations and scholarships and know God. You don't know God by scholarships; you know God by faith. You believe Him, and God reveals Himself to you. I like that, don't you? He's made it so simple, so humble.

Now, so humble and it's so simple, till the wise people can't understand it. It's so simplified, till the wise don't get it. They try to make it complicated to the church. They try to make it a great big lots of sanctifying things you have to do, and stop this, and do this, and all this, that, and the other, and... Why it's not at all; just believe it, and accept it, and that settles it. God comes into your heart, and He takes care of the rest of it. If He can ever gain the--the--in you heart, gain a place in your heart, then the rest of it will take care of itself. I love that.

SPEAK.TO.THIS.MOUNTAIN_  BROOKLYN.NY  SUNDAY_  57-1215

E-7    And God has not made it complicated. And many people try to think it's that way, that it's complicated. Therefore, they miss the real blessing of the Word by trying to make it some hard thing. And my purpose in these next ten or fifteen minutes, is to reveal to you the best that I can by His blessed Word, that God is not complicated in any way. The believer makes it complicated; God makes it simple.

TESTIMONY.WILLIAM.BRANHAM_  SAN.JUAN.PR  WEDNESDAY_  60-0210

E-10    Later, I become the state game warden of Indiana. (Conservation officer.) And one day on a--going up on the bus, there was a great crowd, and I had--we had to stand up. And I felt a strange feeling. I was always sensitive to spirits, especially when I'd meet one of those people. I'd feel that real funny feeling. And I begin to feel that, and I looked around; and there was a strong woman looking right at me. She said, "I'd like to speak to you."

I said, "What do you want?" I never did like women, but not--not you sisters, I--I mean, He told me not to defile myself. And it made me have a complex.

And so then, because all my associates would be sinners in that day. And there's a great story there that I could tell. Being offered whiskey, and immoral, and how the Holy Spirit come down, makes me stand back from it. It wasn't me. See? I would have did it. It was God taking care of that gift. It must go forth.

FELLOWSHIP_  MIDDLETOWN.OH  SATURDAY_  60-0611B

E-17    Now, we have tried organizing to fellowship. You break off with another group when you do that. All right. We tried to educate them to fellowship. And what do we get? Why, we get a bunch of educated idiots. And that--that--that's a horrible for a preacher to make a statement like that, but it--that's the truth.

I--I... Something happened to me a few weeks ago. And I'm determined, by the help of God, never to be negative on anything anymore, to blast my heart out and remind me, or no matter what it costs (See?), be sincere and down to the bottom of it. And that's the truth.

And men just educate themselves till they'll--they educate themselves away from one another.

GOD'S.PROVIDED.APPROACH.TO.FELLOWSHIP_  TULSA.OK  THURSDAY_  60-0630

E-20    "How can I have that faith, Brother Branham?" It's just as simple as reaching, getting the hyssop to 'ply the blood. Believe it for yourself. Believe that Christ died for you. Believe that He was the innocent One that died in your place as a sinner, and guilty. Same applies by Divine healing: just simple faith to take Him at His Word. Oh, if they try to complicate it... They try to make it so great.

That's why the great revival broke out in England. The Anglican church had it so complicated, only the educated could understand it. And God, when the church gets in that condition, God always sends a revival of simplicity and breaks the thing to pieces. That's right. That's what we need today is the simpleness. That's what the nation needs today, is the simplicity of faith in Christ to surrender themselves unselfishly with their whole heart, soul, and mind, and all they are to the Lord Jesus. Just simple, you don't have to learn nothing at all; just believe that Jesus died to give you the blessing. Then it's yours by faith as soon as you pick up the hyssop faith and apply the blood, something happens in every man's heart or woman that does that.

JEHOVAH.JIREH_  TULARE.CA  SUNDAY_  61-0226

E-66    She writes me a letter. "Dear Billy, I'm setting here tonight. I just got the children to bed. I've washed today. I've done so-and-so. The phone's rung over three hundred times. People are asking where you're at. I'm thinking much of you." That's what she's writing. But you know, I can read right between the lines and know what she means, 'cause I love her.

That's the way you know this love Book of God. Reason it's so complicated to people, you're not in love with Christ. You say it--it contradicts itself and all this. You're just not in love with the Author; that's all. It's a love Letter.

BEYOND.THE.CURTAIN.OF.TIME_  JEFF.IN  SUNDAY_  61-0305

E-5    Now, see our brother here real, real sick laying on this cot. And we... Someone's coming in a little bit while for us to go to Louisville. I want you to remember the prayer, too, of fine young lady that, she isn't about eighteen years old. She's a twin. And a Christian girl in school, and the other girls would talk about her, you know, the two girls and tell them that how they were--what part of life they were missing and how they should live like the rest of the girls.

And one girl was able to just override it. This other one had a complex, and she felt real bad about it, and just kept going away, and drifting farther back, and just worrying about it. And finally she's got a mental breakdown. And they... She's in a insane ward. Her mother and father's coming just a little bit from Crandall, Indiana, to go over to this institution where they're going to try to send her to Madison tomorrow.

IT.WASN'T.SO.FROM.THE.BEGINNING_  BLOOMINGTON.IL  TUESDAY_  61-0411

E-17    Now, remember, it just isn't because of me; it's the church. See? To me, it's Christ. You say, "Brother Branham, Christ being a Light?" Yes.

Now, we find out, and these well-trained ministers... And you know of a night when I stand in front of men like this who are really trained and smart men to the ministry, and to the Gospel, and to the Bible, and me stand here knowing with a grammar school education, it... if... I have a complex truly. Many men setting there tonight, far beyond able--or more able then I to be here at the platform. But to see them take a seat and set down behind me to pray, it certainly softens my heart.

Now, but just as clergymen, and brothers, and sisters together, we realize that we find that in the wilderness journey according to the 13th chapter, I believe it is of Exodus, the last few verses, "I send My Angel before you to keep you in the way. Fear Him, because My Name is in Him. He will not pardon your transgressions."

QA.GOD.BEING.MISUNDERSTOOD_  JEFF.IN  COD  SUNDAY_  61-0723E

604-Q-137    137. Brother Branham, I am saved and have been baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, but how do I get away from a stubborn spirit that I can't seem to break away from?

Well, my Christian brother or sister, whoever it may be, now, most times when you find people that's got stubborn spirits, it's usually a complex that causes this, either they have inherited it from a mother, father, uncle, aunt, or grandmother, grandfather, somebody like that. And if you'll chase back down through your life, you'll find... Now, I've taken it by experience under discernment, because I have met cases on the platform, thousands of those that had that spirit. And the first thing you know, I'd chase that spirit right back by discernment and find that there was a granddaddy, there was a grandmother, there was somebody else back down there, and you inherit that by nature.

MESSAGE.OF.GRACE_  JEFF.IN  V-13 N-3  SUNDAY_  61-0827

262    Here's a lady setting right back out here in the midst of people right here. See that light over her? She's suffering with a skin trouble. Mrs. Pitman, you're from Owensboro. If you're a stranger, wave your hand. Is those things true? Wave your hand. God heals you. I never seen the woman yet, only in a vision.

That you might know, right over from you is a woman named Ellis, Mrs. Ellis, a young woman. She has female trouble. She's a stranger also. If that's right, wave your hand. Is that your mother setting next to you there? It's a lady setting there suffering with a fear, a complex of fear upon her. If that's right raise up your hand, lady. All right. The fear is gone. You can go home, be well. I challenge you to believe.

WE.WOULD.SEE.JESUS_  SPOKANE.WA  THURSDAY_  62-0712

E-8    We--the people today make the Gospel too complicated for people. See? That's always been the reason it goes over the head of the common people. And the Gospel was sent for all, but it's usually the common people that hears it. Luke said, "The common people heard Jesus gladly," the common people.

And so God makes it so simple He said in Isaiah, "Even a fool shouldn't err in the way." So we never want to make it complicated. It's simple, the simplicity of believing it, just having faith. Don't move from it. Stay right with it, and God takes care of the rest.

LOOK_  PHOENIX.AZ  SUNDAY_  63-0428

E-107    The man had built up a complex, just about like the church has done today. "You'll either preach it the way I like it, or you won't hear it at all. I won't pay no attention when..." He set there. Man after man had come to him, tried to talk to him. He'd built himself till he wasn't going to hear no more.

So the governor walked in. He said, "Son, I'd like to talk to you."

He said, "Shut up and get out of here," in his cell.

He said, "Son, I've come to help you."

Said, "I told you to get out of here."

That's the way people does the Holy Spirit today, yeah. "Get out. I don't want nothing to do with it." And knocks at the door. "If I do that, I'll have to give up my card party. I'll have to give up this. I'll have to give up that. I have to give up my church creed. I'll have to give..." See? You'd better listen. He's the only one's got pardon. That's right. What are you looking at? See?

LOOK_  PHOENIX.AZ  SUNDAY_  63-0428

E-108    He'd looked at so many things, he was afraid to look at this man. He kept his head turned. That's the way people do today at the altar call. They keep their head turned. They don't want to hear it. They turn their head from God Who's telling them, "That's the truth." A little wee voice like a touch...

You know Elijah, he heard the rushing wind, blood, fire, smoke, and it didn't brother him. But when he heard that little voice he come out. Oh, that little voice that the church has failed to hear... Right.

So the--the--the man tried his best. The governor tried to talk to the boy. The boy said, "Are you going to get out of here or am I going to throw you out."

Turned around and said, "All right, son, I've done the best I could do."

LOOK_  PHOENIX.AZ  SUNDAY_  63-0428

E-109    When he walked out the boy looked around kind of arrogant, as he walked down through the hall. And when he did one of the guards stepped out and said, "Governor, did you do any good?"

He said, "No, he wouldn't listen."

That boy jumped; he grabbed the bars, said, "Who was that?"

"That was the governor. Come for your pardon."

Too late then. He screamed; he cried; he said, "Think of it. The governor here in my own cell to pardon me, and I turned him down."

And when they put the rope around his neck before they put the black mask on him, after he'd walked the thirteen steps, last words he said, "Think of it. The governor stood in my cell for pardoning, and I turned him down." And they hung him.

STANDING.IN.THE.GAP_  JEFF.IN  V-6 N-7  SUNDAY_  63-0623M

122    I let the sick lay. I want Lord to tell me where to go and not to. That's wrong. I'd built myself a complex, because the people didn't hear my message. And if you'll... And God forbid that I've tried to compare the life of now like Moses, but it's exactly what Moses did. The people wouldn't listen to him when he come to deliver them, so he just left them alone and went into the wilderness, but God turned him around. And he'd long forgot the suffering people.

And then I said, "Lord, if... How could I... That's right. With no education but a grammar school education, be able... And the people would stand in rows and everywhere to--to hear the simple Gospel." It's more; it's greater now than it was under the old covenant. He ascended on high and give gifts unto men (See?), Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.

STANDING.IN.THE.GAP_  JEFF.IN  V-6 N-7  SUNDAY_  63-0623M

173        God bless you each one and we hope to see you again real soon. Till then, will you do this one favor for me now, both here and on tapes also, you brethren? INDICTMENT.THE_  JEFF.IN  V-3 N-19  SUNDAY_  63-0707

61-4    God, be merciful to us at this deep time of meditation. Let the Word soak in deep, Lord, to the heart. Let the people, though they be late for their dinner, but, Lord, this is more than meat; this is Life. "My Word is Meat," You said. And that's what our hungry souls are feasting on.

Now, take us, Lord; mold us. Lord, take me with them. I want to go with them. I'm going up to Calvary now, Lord, by faith. I'm going with this congregation. Now, just mold me over, Lord. I've did wrong. Many times that I... Here recently, I was going to just quit preaching. The people wouldn't hear me. They just kept on doing the same thing, and I--I got discouraged. I built a complex. O God, a couple Sundays ago when You give me that sign out there, and not--and reading the Bible and see You told Moses, just as that dream was, that there was a mountain too that would be a sign to him. And then right at the end of it to know that I'd--I'd left a lot of sick people, a ministry not only in the prophetic, but in teaching the Word and--and for praying for the sick. You let a man drop dead right here on the floor, then brought him back to life for confirmation that it was true. You always confirm Your Word.

Above everything, love God and love one another. And be humble with God and around one another, and God will bless it, and it's hard telling what He will do. Usually when a church begins to get in numbers and get to getting a little bigger, or something like that, then they get away from that real thing, the real thing.

PARADOX.A_  CHICAGO.IL  V-21 N-3  THURSDAY_  63-0801

26       Now, the genes in the father and the mother of this boy, no matter how much they are converted, still remains the flesh that's been interbred out to this boy. Therefore, the boy has got a complex in him, just like from his mother's family, and they are not forgiving, they will not apologize, and that's where that boy stands.

INVESTMENTS_  CHICAGO.IL  V-21 N-5  SATURDAY_  63-0803B

30       And now before we approach the Word, I'm going to ask a--a dear friend of mine, a young minister setting out here, that--that... He had kind of a complex. And he and his little wife used to come to my house all the time, and he'd set around and he wouldn't talk. And he'd--he'd just ask one question, "Brother Branham, what do you think, the Lord's called me to the ministry?" And I saw the potentials of this young man from a fine Bible institution, but just he lacked. Like Moses with all of his training, he... What Moses lacked, the burning bush had. That's what Brother Ruddell lacked, is what the burning bush had, and one day it caught fire. And the brother has a church there just outside the city limits, I believe, of Jeffersonville, a real ongoing work for the Lord, one of our sister churches from the Tabernacle.

QUESTIONS.AND.ANSWERS_  JEFF.IN  COD  SUNDAY_  64-0830E

1159-Q-389    389. When a person realizes he has an inferior complex, or some sort of complex, how may he overcome this? So--should it be if he was the only child caused this in his early youth?

Take exactly the opposite. If you're always wanting your way, and that one little brat that wants to always have everything your way, turn right back around and give everything you got the other way. If you're selfish and you want to hold everything, then start giving away what you got. See? Do whatever--just go the vice versa. That's the way to overcome anything is an antidote.

You've... My old, southern mother used to say, "Hair off the dog back is good for the bite." And that applies this a-way too.

Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,

 Hear my humble cry;

While on others Thou art calling,

 Do not pass me by.

Thou the Stream of all my comfort,

 More than life to me,

Whom on earth have I beside Thee?

Or whom in heaven but Thee?
